This article is spot on! Honestly, as much as I love education, if someone would have had a serious not-gonna-shoot-the-shit-with-you conversation with me before I dived in feet first, I seriously wouldve gone to vo-tech school, learned body and fender, paint, welding, CNC machining, bought a building and opened a custom automotive shop and taught adjunct using my Masters degree and still focused on cultural education grants and program development!!!! For instance, recently had a university call me excitedly about joining them as an adjunct, then I learned the salary for the semester would be like $2,300 (for the semester!!!). Needless to say, I can make that in one month gigging... Dont get me wrong. Im glad I have become a member of such an esteemed cohort and am now the ultimate example of endurance and intellectual/scholarly accomplishment, but the jobs and opportunities are depressingly few and far in-between.
