Grant ordered 1,000 troops to Denmark and came to this building himself. It has played a major role in Madison County, TN. After the cyclone of 1909 the Presbyterians, Baptist and Methodist all used the building for worship since the Big Black Creek Baptist and Denmark Methodist were destroyed.
