(This came to me as an email & I was ROTFL...) Joe Cocker’s - TopicsExpress

(This came to me as an email & I was ROTFL...) Joe Cocker’s spirit lives on in this famous LSD trip... This is being sent out on the day before Xmas to honor Joe Cocker — who died of lung cancer two days ago on December 22nd, 2014 at the age of 70. The two living Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, were among those who paid tribute to the singer. He is the only person known to have ever played a Beatles’ tune that made it more creative than the original. His rendition of WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS was done under the influence of 500 micrograms of LSD (300 micrograms is a very big dose) and as can be seen in this YouTube video, it was amazingly creative & original. When he was only 25 years old, Joe Cocker was the opening performance before half a million people at 2 PM on Sunday, August 17th at Woodstock. He attempted to sing “With A Little Help From My Friends”. Fortunately or unfortunately, he was stoned out of his mind. After beginning with the Beatles words, he went on to make up his own words to the song & it is only recently that someone figured out what he did sing on that day. The sub-titles on this YouTube video reveal what he was saying. Looking at the video, can you see that he was in the middle of a psychedelic journey? youtube/watch?v=T4_MsrsKzMM Incidentally, after he finished singing his song, a heavy thunderstorm washed over the festival and Woodstock was brought to a stop for several hours. ` (\ /) ( \ / ) ( \()/ ) ( / \ ) ( / \/ \ ) ‘Til suddenly, / \ Elliott ( ) (eliyahu) Joe Cocker’s version of “With A Little Help From My Friends”… Joe Cockers version was a radical re-arrangement of the original Beatles tune, in a slower, 6/8 meter, in a different key, using different chords in the middle eight, and a lengthy instrumental introduction. The Beatles were his friends, & they gave their permission for him to do his own version of their song. This has become one of Joe Cockers most famous songs, and these are the lyrics that Joe Cocker did NOT sing on that day in Woodstock: With A Little Help From My Friends by the Beatles What would you think if I sang out of tune, Would you stand up and walk out on me. Lend me your ears and Ill sing you a song, And Ill try not to sing out of key. Oh I get by with a little help from my friends, I get high with a little help from my friends, Oh Im gonna try with a little help from my friends. What do I do when my love is away. (Does it worry you to be alone) How do I feel by the end of the day (Are you sad because youre on your own) No, I get by with a little help from my friends, Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends, Mmm Im gonna to try with a little help from my friends Do you need anybody? I need somebody to love. Could it be anybody? I want somebody to love. Would you believe in a love at first sight? Yes Im certain that it happens all the time. What do you see when you turn out the light? I cant tell you, but I know its mine. Oh I get by with a little help from my friends, Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends, Oh Im gonna try with a little help from my friends Do you need anybody? I just need someone to love. Could it be anybody? I want somebody to love Oh... I get by with a little help from my friends, Im gonna try with a little help from my friends I get high with a little help from my friends Yes I get by with a little help from my friends, with a little help from my friends
