This coming Friday night Oct 17th Ill be opening the show and joining the great Texan songwriter Eric Taylor at the DC Club 20 Camden Row Dublin.. People have been talking about Eric Taylor and his songs for years, since the early 1970s when he was an integral part of a Houston songwriting scene that included Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. As Taylors reputation and song catalogue has grown, he has enjoyed a following that includes Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen and Steve Earle who says Eric Taylor was one of my heroes and teachers when I started playing around Houston in the early 1970s, hes the real deal. Many years ago I met Eric in a pub called Oonas in Bellows Falls Vermont ...I had been playing an early show in the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton Mass that same night and was due to play Oonas the next night, I knew he was playing and as a fan I decided to try get to Bellows Falls after my show...I left Northampton and sped to Bellows Falls hoping to catch the end of his set but he was finished, instead I drank whiskey with him all night and discussed Lightning Hopkins and Townes and set the world to right..! I dont know if hed ever remember that night but Ive some photos lying around of him myself and slung over the bar somewhere..! Hes a special songwriter.... The DC Club is at 20 Camden Row Dublin, straight up that narrow side street beside Whelans...when you get to the top of the street its the last building on the right, check out the comments for a picture...A great venue..!
