This criticism of American Sniper just angers me. Its ludicrous and based in a class/caste mentality. I know I am biased, and I promised I wouldnt wade into political/social crap anymore. How can you claim to support troops in one breath (if at all) and than call Kyle a cold blooded remorseless killer? You have to realize your criticism comes from a position with the luxury of choice. You think that by extraction, he had the same choice with no consequences. Youd be wrong. Yes, he had the choice of enlisting/re-enlisting, opting for SEAL training, etc. Correct. But beyond that in a day-to-day violent world nothing he did was ultimately his choice. Theres always the chain of command to answer to and the all present politically correct rules of engagement to answer to. Try to imagine 20-30 of your closest friends and coworkers dying in front of you, when you have the means to stop it but cant because youre not received the proper permission from a liason officer 3 levels above you. Think you might be upset? Think you might have problems dealing with it? Too bad, it all replays again tomorrow. Let me tell you, civilians dont understand the dynamic or the life. its a good thing you dont. you might have a relative who served and told you some things, but you dont know. I am not demeaning what youve done in your own life, but youve got no clue. Was Kyle a killer? Absolutely. We all were/are. Was he remorseless? How would you know? Youve never had to end someones life, or preserve it in a flash. How would you know what that remorse feels like, or looks like? We know, and we couldnt explain it to you in a million of years.Well, Kyle was a trash talker, and maybe even lied about certain aspects, you say. Ok, you got me, but LeBron James trash talks and all he does is get paid millions to put a ball in a hoop. Yet you still talk as if you know. Some of these people sicken me and they deserve to have their attitude adjusted in as direct a manner as possible, but then I am conflicted because I know your ignorance is the natural result of your never having to walk the walk. The calmer, 47 year old, me tries to quietly ignore your opinions, however right or wrong they may be, because people like Kyle, Josh Harton, Micky Garmsir , Frederic Doss , my father, brother, and countless others wore boots so you could have the right to be completely unhinged in your opinions. I wont judge you because you werent there, please dont judge me because I was.
