The Cardinals used seven pitchers in an attempt to halt the Royals 14 hits and 11 runs. Bret Saberhagen gave the Cards just five hits. 2004 - Boston swept the Cardinals in four games with a 3-0 shutout in Game 4 of the World Series. Derek Lowe pitched a three-hitter for 7 innings. Johnny Damon led off the game with a home run and Trot Nixon doubled home two in the third, all off Jason Marquis. 2006 - Won the 10th World Championship for St Louis with a 4-2 win over Detroit in Game 5. Jeff Weaver allowed the two runs (1 earned) over 8 innings. David Eckstein drove in two on two hits to collect the Series MVP. 2011 - The Cardinals win a 10-9 battle in 11 innings over the Texas Rangers at Busch Stadium to tie the series at 3-3 in World Series Game 6. Trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the 9th, with two on, two outs and two strikes, David Freese hit at triple to tie the game at seven-all. Texas Josh Hamilton hit a two-run homer to give the Rangers the lead in the top of the 10th, but in the bottom half of the frame, St Louis scored two to tie the game at 9-9. David Freese hit a home run to straight-away center in the bottom of the 11th on a full-count for the home-team win and force a Game 7.
