This dog was found tied to a tree wearing a shirt, say Monarks ACC memos, and its easy to tell that this poor guy hasnt had an easy life. Yet, hes sweet and loving, and hes begging for his life, tonight. A volunteer writes: Take a quick look at Monark, then close your eyes and imagine what a majestic dog he would be if he was given the chance to be treated like a beloved pet should be. I guess this is why he was given that particular name at the care center. Monark was found as a stray, underweight, a patchy coat, sores across his body and a bruised tail. He is wiggly in his kennel, his grey blue eyes looking intensely and deeply into mine. He walks well on the leash, even sits as i ask. He is very hungry as expected and returns again and again to where my goodies bag is. He is a little skittish and does not like to be tethered for picture taking. He is not trusting me fully. Are you surprised? Feeding him treats establishes a bond between us and Monark lets me in more and more. He even comes briefly on my lap, attempting a kiss. He is hesitant, one step forward, two steps backward. Humans can be the source of good and bad. This poor dog had it rough and will need mending, basically a smart hero who will give Monark back his trust in humans and allow him to be the breathtaking and good pet he was always meant to be. Monark is at the Manhattan Care Center putting all his hopes in you.
