This guy is a joke!!! One of the biggest issues the state - TopicsExpress

This guy is a joke!!! One of the biggest issues the state currently faces, and he wants to make a mockery of it like its some kind of upcoming blockbuster film. Like its something people should be excited about or look forward to??? Every time he robs the pension system and fails to hold up the states end of the bargain, it effects cops, firemen, teachers, and all public workers. And not just us, but our families as well. And it also hurts the taxpayers who have to bear the brunt of his mismanagement of funds and his ridiculous earnings projections for the state. Weve come to the table, weve made concessions, weve increased payments on our end. Now itd be nice to see the state hold up its end of the deal. Im not going to go on some blind rant about how in spite of what the state has to contend with, that they should fund every cent of the missed payment tomorrow. Thats not feasible or logical. But, I know the options havent been exhausted, and the solution isnt what this blowhard has in mind. How about smaller monthly installments instead of waiting till the end to make one lump sum payment? How about taking some of the money that he uses to line the pockets of his big time corporate sponsors and buddies and scaling it back for a couple years until things are funded? How about doing away with some of these huge corporate tax abatements for the next 3 years, and then reinstating them for those companies? Im not a politician or an analyst, and maybe these ideas are completely illogical and implausible. But maybe if we all sat down together and worked to come up with a plan, something good might actually come out of it...a solution. Instead of the Governor just taking his usual hard ass, Im a bully, my way or the highway, things have to change stance. Maybe we can work together. The economy is in rough shape, no one is saying things dont have to change. But theres also no reason we cant sit down and come up with an amicable solution that will appease both sides pretty damn close to equally. I dont think its appropriate to use Jersey Citys latest tragedy as a political ploy to further an agenda. That tragedy, and DETECTIVE Santiagos memory dont deserve to be tainted by the political bullshit that is going on. What I will say however, is that in spite of all that is going on at the state level with our pensions, benefits, jobs, etc., we still wake up every morning and go to work to protect the people and property of our respective cities. Everyday, we put on those uniforms and we do our jobs. We hope that we can do our best to protect the people that rely on us, and we hope that our best is good enough. Good enough to save lives, to give the citizens peace of mind, and to make the city and the people that employ us proud. Our jobs are dangerous ones. We hope that at the end of our shift we can go home to our families....but we always know there is a chance that we may not. The brave men and women who do these jobs, do so because they love the job. They care about their community, they care about the people that they protect. The paycheck, the benefits, the pension, those are all great things. But the passion to do the job is what drives us. And it is why, in spite of all the turmoil at the state level threatening our pension and our benefits, in spite of how the governor constantly tries to vilify us, in spite of the dangers of our job; we wake up every single day, we put on those uniforms, and we go to work for you, the people we have sworn to protect. Because it is our job, and it is what we love to do.
