This happened at Tim Hortons on Decarie, near Orange Julius. They are currently renovating, so they have a trailor outside. Its Friday so there are more people than usual. As I arrive a lady, who appears to be in her mid fifties, seems to try and figure out where the line is, its all out of wack. People are on the left, scattered waiting for their orders and on th right next to them is a poor attempt at a straight line. She asks a young man in English, who seems to be of another nationality, if the line is there. With an angry face, making odd gestures with his hands he tries to signal her he doesnt know. He doesnt seem to understand English very much. She shrugs and proceeds to get into the what she thinks is the line. As the line moves forward she moves forward. A lady who is on the phone angrily tells her, YOU are HERE, and Im HERE!, pointing behind her, and she proceeds her call. She turns around at me and smirks and says this one is not happy. I smile and say, maybe shes having a bad day. With a smile on her face she then tells me that its her birthday, that she wasnt mentally prepared for her birthday and that she almost forgot. She chuckles, After 60 you stop counting!. I smile and wish her a happy birthday. For 15 mins we talked about everything and anything, as if wed known eachother for a while. Just to give you an idea some where in there we spoke about me having a baby face, and minutes later about wasps, go figure. Her day couldve gone worse because of the rude people. She didnt let it affect her and she kept smiling. I wish it was this easy to speak to everyone, life would be so much better. She put some joy into my day and made it that much better. Why dont you take a few minutes everyday and try and do that for a stranger, I know I will. We walk around blinded, like children in the dark. So cold and so empty How did this even start?
