This has been A Day. Up at 9am, to the severe disapproval of my body. To a panel, at 10am, on aliens. 15 minutes before the panel ended, Hey, can you interview Gene Wolfe for the next panel? Sure? And youre bringing me Starbucks? Ok! Gene Wolfe is amazing and needs only a little warm-up before spending 90+ minutes charming the hell out of the audience. Then a whole 20 minutes to get from the Hyatt to the Westin, find Michael Martinez to liberate Naomi Noviks misshipped books from FedEx, send them down to the table, and get up to my 1pm panel (thankfully in the Westin, too). Moderated the Z*Con movie panel with Logan Z. Liskovec, 2 crew members, and a Skyped-in Michael Dougherty. Back down to the Hyatt to hit the table table to organize the many boxes of books, all of which were gone by the end of the day, along with most of our promo materials. A brief break to inhale Indian food while hiding behind the table. Oh, hey, lets go see the comics artists! Oh, whats this? Fantasy Lit wants me on another panel? In 20 minutes? LGBTQ in Fantasy? Okay... AMAZING, HEART-BREAKING PANEL. Oh my god, guys, that one got me in the heart. Back up to the table. All the business and contract and marketing and industry advice! I am now on a roll! Who needs a voice or food or coffee or sleeeeeeppppp! HI NICE PEOPLE! Didnt escape the table til 7:20pm, took a box down to the bowels of the Hyatt, ended up talking to a mod for another 20 minutes, met a fan (?!!?). 30 minutes to get up to the Westin, shower (oh god today was nasty, hot, and humid), change, let Carrie know the plans, and get back DOWN to the Hyatt to meet Chuck Gannon and Les Johnson for dinner. ALL THE QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT AND PHYSICS AND COMMS AND CULTURE AND PROPAGANDA DISCUSSION. Also some great food. Then back down to the Hilton for the last night of karaoke. Jamie Chambers, Jason Bulmahn, Michael Mirth, Andy, Jeremy Gates, and Balvenie. And then back to the Westin to pack, except that we found Eugene Myers and a friend and now Im in bed chatting, and oh god I have a 9am meeting with the guys from the Electronic Frontiers Foundation and then table and I still havent been to the exhibit hall and THERE IS STILL SO MUCH TO DO.
