This has bothered me for years and I know that not only will my thoughts fall on deaf ears but also Ill be considered some radical for stating the truth. People complain that we are taking Christ out of Christmas but truth is the entire holiday is a pagan tradition. Zero biblical significance that has zero to do with my Christ. I am a biblical Christian and though not a scholar, am well read as anyone who says they are a follower of Christ should be. If you bought gifts, you took Christ out of Christmas. Do you think the turner of tables would condone the act of buying material things?? Not a chance and I never got caught up in the the whole gift giving scam. Our economy is boosted by 2-3% every year because we take our income and just buy junk and give it away. Christ would feed and cloth the poor but we teach our children some man dressed in red just gives gifts away. The inception of television helped brainwash the masses that you need to buy gifts and as children we loved receiving them, so we passed on this tradition that is only 70 years old at best. Everything surrounding this holiday has zero to do with Christian living and I dont care how or if you celebrate it, it is not a Christian holiday, so treat it as such. For me, Christmas is ham, turkey, sauce and family all together eating and sharing love. This is what Christmas is to me. Family and great food. Enjoy your holiday season and remembering the Risen Lamb is a daily event that is to be celebrated morning, noon and night. Merry Xmas ( because I fairly sure Christ wants nothing to do with the mindless support of corporate America and I wouldnt dare to try to fit him in that senseless box.)
