This is Caden and he was born at 35 weeks gestation weighing at 4lbs 11ozs with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Aortic Atresia. We did not know about his defect until he was two days old. He had his first open heart surgery at 3 weeks old and second at 6 months old. He had a stroke after one of his procedures and has some left side weakness do to his stroke and sees childrens rehab at Batson. He is three now and will be going for his third surgery in 9 days. He has had all of his surgeries at Batson and all of his doctors/specialist/therapist are through Batson. The staff takes really good care of him. We often call Batson our 2nd home! After going there for so long the staff becomes more like family and couldnt began to imagine not having this place here. Looking at Caden if we didnt tell you his history you wouldnt know anything was wrong with him, he sure doesnt let his defect hold him back from being a normal toddler.
