This is Caylee-Beatrice Anthony running up Beatrice Hill across the street from my doctor, on the property of Providence Holy Cross Hospital, where I had spent a LOT of time. Beatrice started the habit of running up the hill after doctor visits, and when she visited me when I was in the hospital. Caylee-Beatrice carries on the tradition, but chases her leash instead of just running the hill. You often hear me talk about Caylee-Beatrice exercising with her flirt-pole, and there are videos posted of her working out with one. It exercises the dogs prey drive by chasing a stuffed squeaky toy on a rope attached to a flexible rod. You get the dog chasing the toy, to its highest state of excitement, then shut it down, and make it wait until you start the game again. This adds an On/Off switch to a natural behavior, a dog chasing moving prey, as illustrated in this video when Caylee-Beatrice is off leash and encounters a stray cat. Caylee-Beatrice has a cat she inherited from Beatrice, so she doesnt chase cats, but did get startled, as did the cat, and they went into prey/predator mode, but Caylee-Beatrice shuts down, stops chasing and engaging as soon as I give the Leave-It command. This why I get all of my clients to spend to the $20 for a flirt pole. It wears out a high-energy dogs like Caylee-Beatrice who can work a flirt-pole for 3-4 hours, and dogs of all levels, exercises the prey drive, and adds an On/Off Switch to your dog that can be used to stop any dangerous situation your dog could get into.
