This is Chilla the chinchilla. He visited us a few weeks ago for a sore and scabby foot, and sadly it never resolved, but got worse and his foot became necrotic. Dr. Namazi amputated his leg yesterday. There is always an increased anesthetic risk with very small animals, but he went through the surgery wonderfully, and recovered like a champ! He was bouncing around and moving without any issues only a few hours after. Dr. Namazi fashioned this sweater out of a stockinette so he wouldnt get at his sutures. He went home today! We wish him a speedy recovery and will see him in a couple weeks to remove his sutures.
