This is Jerome, grass collector at IBR. Every morning and every afternoon he and his friend is cutting and collecting grass for our cows. This is new way of transporting the grass; by his newly bought Chinese motorbike. Of course this is dream for most young Tanzanians to own a motor bike. Motorbikes is a danger to National health of the people. Too many of them, drivers without license and very often driving recklessly, often no helmets. The police is allowing them to be four people on a bike sometimes a baby right in front. It seems to be very little control from the authorities. Last week when we were in Moshi we heard from the doctors that over the last 9 month over 800 young men died from the injuries from motorbike accidents. How many are treated in hospitals, with life threatening injuries, we don´t know but there are many. Lushoto has also got many motorbikes. This import of motorbikes from China started about 4 years ago and has become a danger on the roads. A new taxi industry has started with the bikes and many young men without any income own a motor bike today to do business.
