This is a common remark of an all agog Filipino traveler, born and raised and residing in the Philippines, who’s seeing the wonders of his/her own country for the first time. A remark that is not unfounded (the Philippines is a tropical paradise), but is still rather mildly offensive because why do we Filipinos always compare our country’s beauty—or even its general pleasantness—to anywhere but the Philippines?
