This is a dreadful news actually. He is a cross between neo-libral and neo-con with truly reactionally and revisionist view of history. Compared with this guy, Tony Abbott is a modern, liberal and moderate leader. His ultimate goal seems to be the complete rewriting of the Costitution. Not only the famous peace clause but also entire hman rights ar under threat Put simply, he and his mates in the LDP want Japan back to pre-war emperor-worshiping state. Under his watch, nuclear industry will be fully revived. US bases in Okinawa will be maintained and strengthened despite near universal opposition from local residents and politicians, including conservative ones. Trouble is, on each issue, Japanese people more likely disagree with this grandson of former PM (who was an accused war criminal. His grandfather escaped persecution by becoming a CIA agent). However, sense of betrayal by the previous DPJ government is such that turn-out could be as low as 50% and thus will give the LDP the victory. I guess we have to prepare for the post-election ruin and starting a new liberal/green force. Question is can a phoenix still rise?
