This is a follow up to my early post on "misery". I am so grateful for the love and concern shown by those who have made comments on that post. I want to response with two ideas. 1) I am emerging from this mired spell with gratitude and eagerness to help other s less fortunate than myself. Having my health back has had a huge positive effect on all things! 2) Alas, I did not coin the phrase "Post Traumatic Growth" . It is actually a field of study. To be brief here are some of the main characteristics/steps in the journey to post traumatic growth: 1. Appreciation for life and Gratitude 2. Being open to new possibilities (What else is possible?) 3. Focusing on personal strengths. I lit into creativity during and after my blue period, I had a project, that helped. For some one else it might be making hilarity out of a hellhole, for another singing like crazy- whatever our strengths and gifts are - use them. 4. Connection. Making contact with others and appreciating the bonds you have with other. touch helps ALOT. 5. Practice amplifying JOY. What ever strides, accomplishments, progress you make - celebrate it. Make it an event. YIPEEE!!!! My awareness is showing me how important it is to give grief its span, yet fan the tend flames of optimism as it is ready to grow. Love to All.
