This is a massive thing for the communities of Drury, Ramarama and wider region. There has been significant opposition lead by some very hard working and determined locals who will be extremely disappointed and considering the next step. On the counter side, opportunities for employment locally and for South Auckland as a whole will, in the long term, be improved. Living not very far away from this at all, I can say I have a real interest and pending on what happens in the future, will be doing everything I can to make sure we get the best possible outcomes. The timing of the decsion will allow us to consider it for the Rural Urban Boundary discussion at the continuation of the marathon council meeting that started last Wednesday and continues today with a projected closing time of 7pm tonight, then back Thursday.
