This is a message TO ALL my nephews, sons, cousins, and all BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICAN BOYS. Young men you are blessed with a strength, power, and ability that a large portion of the society you live in does not understand, and because of this missed-understanding you have been a target from the day you were born. There have been traps designed specifically for you and disguised as materials you are MISLED into believing you MUST have. YOU do not need these things. ALL the credibility, status, and comfort they may afford you is not long-term, it only lasts as long as the materials do. YOUNG men your family may not be the models you see on t.v. or movies, but they are yours. Respect them, even when it may be hard to do. This is what an entry into manhood is about; realizing not only the times you must stand, but also what it is youre standing for and also the position you need to make your stance successful. Young men I speak to you from the seat of experience that Ive been blessed to have. There is nothing awaiting you in groups that stand on the corners of any block but the opportunity to miss opportunity. Fast is not always good and easy is never appreciated beyond the moment. The structure that you are so opposed to right now is preparing you for life on your own, because right now people are planning to put you somewhere where they can structure your lives without care or concern for how you feel. Young men dare to dream beyond what you see or hear. These dreams belong to you and are only brought to life or destroyed by you. There is no loss or setback to big for you not to overcome. Triumph is in your blood, and Victory is the cornerstone of your DNA. Look at the mistakes of those who have come before you, not so you can laugh but so you can learn. Each day is a grow, each hour is an hour for you to plan, and each minute is a minute for you to observe two things; wht you WANT your life to be like and what you DONT WANT your life to be like. Young men you are a valuable resource, but you are becoming scarce. Replenish the supply with stronger, more focused, and more determined of our kind, less we will be EXTINCT.
