This is a quick and dirty set of instruction about how to use the GPS Unit: 1. Turn it on by clicking on the power button that is in the top of the display. 2. The unit will enter into a self-test mode that will take about 10 seconds to complete. 3. After the test is complete it will display the aircraft available fuel. At this time the unit is ready for operation. 4. To follow a flight plan all you have to do is either load one or create one using FSXs flight planner. 4. To place the unit in NAV mode, click on the NAV button. If there is a valid flightplan loaded, the display will show nav information regarding the next Waypoint. 4.1. You can change the information displayed by clicking in either the outer or inner knobs. The outer knob will change the top line and the inner one will change the bottom one. 4.2. If there is no valid flightplan, the invalid info will show as a series of dashes (----) 4.3. By default NAV mode will show waypoint info on top: Waypoint Ident and type, bearing, distance in nmles and estimated time in transit (ETE). In the bottom display you will have a steering cue, current ground trak and distance to waypoint. 5. To place the unit in Waypoint mode, click on the WPT button. 5.1 Waypoint information will be displayed on both top and bottom lines. In the top line you will get the Waypoint Ident, Type, Bearing, and Distance in nmiles. In the bottom line the information varies by waypoint type. For example: for airports you can get name, location, frequencies, runway type, active runway, etc. 5.2 Clicking on the outer knob will change the waypoint 5.3 Clicking on the inner knob will change the waypoint information. 5.4 Clicking on the -D-> (Direct-To) button will select the current waypoint as the next target. (Im not sure if this is functional, please check). 5.5 If no flightplan is loaded, it will tell you so and that will be it. 6. To place the unit in FlighPlan mode, click on the FPL button. 6.1 If a flightplan is loaded, the top line will display the departure and arrival airports ident along with the word ACTIVE. The bottom line will display the current waypoint information. 6.2 Clicking on either the outer or inner knobs will navigate through the flight plan waypoints. 6.3 At this time it is not possible to either edit or create a flight plan by using the unit. I hope this will help you use the GPS.
