Without your brain, without your consciousness, youre not truly alive, at least not any more than a carrot. The ability to still respond to painful stimuli does not constitute consciousness; no brain, not sentient, not truly alive. However, if you want to remain a vegetable for your last years, thats up to you and no one should force you to end your life, carrot that you may be.
