This is a story that no one would believe if I didnt have photos to back it up. We started off on a 4-wheel ride today up on Independence. We hadnt gotten very far when Don stopped and said there was an Eagle in the road that seemed to be hurt. It just kept in the trail just a ways ahead of us. Finally it just stopped in the trail and was just sitting there. Don walked up to it and it let him pick it up and we all just stood there trying to decide what to do. Mark called the sheriffs office to find out how to get in touch with Deb who rehabilitates raptors. She got back with us and we told her we would try to bring the bird out to the road where we had parked. We got there, Eagle being held by Don and Deb showed up shortly after we got down off the mountain. She couldnt believe that Don was able to pick it up, hold it all the way down the mountain on a 4-wheeler, and get it to her. We just hope that it survives and can go back to the wild soon.
