This is a summary of the Letter that Shaykh Abu-Qatadah Al-Filistini wrote to the People of Jihaad in Al-Sham. May Allah hasten his release ameen! His words are much needed wisdom. Yes, there will be many who will make excuses NOT to follow the Shaykhs advice, but it is exactly what we need to hear and follow ma sha Allah. His main points are as follows: 1. You should know that the Jihaad in Al-Sham belongs to the Ummah and does not belong to you (referring to those with Syrian nationality) even if Allah blessed you to be there. 2. This Jihaad is from the fruits of the Ulema and Mujahideen that came before you. They put forth so much effort so that it would reach you. 3. I say this with love for all of you, that you must listen to those who came before you, and they have preference over you. 4. I warn my brothers in Jihaad and soldiers from listening to some of the fatawa which have come from beginners in knowledge or those who call themselves self-studied scholars who try to make it fardh for one group to bow to the other. 5. I advise you know to work on creating an elite Shariah Court that consists of the People of Knowledge and Wisdom. 6. They should be given the complete power to give orders, which all are obligated to follow so that we will achieve the oneness and all be in agreement. 7. All parties must abide by it unless they agree to the division among the Mujahideen as this division as no Shariah reasoning except that it is the love of leadership. This is clear no matter how much some people try to hide it and make up excuses. 8. Also, remind my brothers that today the leadership is that of the Jihaad movement and there isnt a leader who has the power, which should be treated with the treatment of a Khilafah or anything similiar who can force others to accept his proclaimed title of Amir Al-Mumineen or anything like that. In summary, Shaykh Abu-Qatadah does not side with any group of Mujahideen. He simply gives us a collective solution to the division among us. He is a very knowledgeable Shaykh on the Haqq and fearless of the Tawagheet. Ma sha Allah, it shows his desire and determination to help the Jihaad effort, even from behind bars. May Allah keep him steadfast and hasten his release. ameen!
