This is an ultrasound images of thyroid gland of 50 years old female for check-up. Previously, patient was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was on maintenance medication. Ultrasound scan show small sized thyroid gland with heterogeneous parenchymal echopattern. Both lobes exhibits multiple solid nodules with internal vascularity, where as cystic nodule with punctuate calcification is noted on the right lobe. No previous ultrasound report was available for comparison. on the day of examination her thyroid function test was within normal limits. What might be the cause of small sized thyroid which was hyper-functioning before?
