This is definitely a touchy subject, but Ive had so many positive and enlightening conversations with other salon owner here that I cant think of a better place to go now for help. I have a stylist (with us about 3 months) who we believe is involved in an abusive relationship. Shes told my team various things about him being possessive, paranoid and having anger issues. Shes been open with me about these issues as well. Were currently involved in a big charity event and he demanded that she not work on any male models for the show; she told my other stylists that if we chose a male model she wouldnt do the show with us. Ive been told that her bf has shown up at the salon and yelled at her, but Ive never witnessed this. Today, I was told one of my stylists witnessed the boyfriend hit her in a parking lot near our salon. Shes currently pregnant with his child. A mess, I know. I realize that I cant make this girl get out of her situation, Ive tried to talk to her about how this will affect her young daughter who lives with him as well, and she didnt seem to want help getting out. How would you handle this and how involved should I get, as her employer?
