This is evidence to prove to people who state there were no black Indians... My oldest son came home from school in tears, sometime in elementary school... his teacher had told him there was no such things as black Indians... but he knew what he had been told about his ancestory and his great grand father(maternal) was Indian... he told his teacher, But my momma said....Bobby she said, enough! Its just not so.... of course you gotta know the end of the story.... Yes, I was at the school before the first bell rang... not outraged, only disappointed that this woman had a degree to teach... and had no diversity in culture or history. I merely took here a book and asked her to read it or never make that remark again....it only showed her ignorance to the fact... as time progressed about 10 years later I was in a co-teacher program, my collegue stated that Egypt was not in Africa.. you know I swallowed three times( Probably sounding like Scooby Doo).., i could say words... they might have come I wrong, but I put down the map attached to the blackboard, almost off its track.. and just pointed... she looked at me in amazement...her reply, Well it s some I guess I had no interest in.... boiling, steaming, but still trying keep a professional composure... so what answers would you have children who would ask you questions that might be about their heritage and the roles black play in the Americas development other than slavery... her reply...Uhmmm Id hadnt thought about that.... this was a Public School... but I guess it was okay, it wasnt in the Sunshine Statutes... we must learn so we can teach, and we all learn, not just children, we are all children in the need of advancing our knowledge.
