This is going to take forever, but it is worth it. Go through four years of blogs to turn them into books? I have just started. This is going to take all week, maybe all month. I have many types of writing. I have novels that I edit like a maniac. I have short stories that are very deliberate hard-boiled pieces of atmosphere. But this is about the blogs. What I am having to sort through right now are the things you read HERE, on FACEBOOK. A few people I respect have asked me to submit to their presses collections of the stuff I spontaneously write here, and whether you call these blogs, or vignettes, or rants, or comedy routines, or confessions...I have a folder of thousands of them. The act of reliving my life through these blogs, and seeing all the cries for help and bad things I was living but hiding, it is really a trip. The idea that I believe in myself enough to get to a new level, this is also a trip. I love my novels, my fiction, my short pieces that are surreal, but what I am being asked to submit is not fiction. I am getting over a huge hurdle, a huge block to follow up on these requests. I am really reading and organizing these pieces. In the process, I will probably edit them and write some new ones to complement each sequence. The deal is, I am DOING it. This is a very big deal for me. I am going where I need to go, and it isnt accompanied by a bang, and it isnt followed by a whimper. It is just me, working, and no longer putting things off until the end of the world.
