This is happening way too often, way too many young people are dying. This young man was Caucasian. The officer was not charged. So what is going wrong? To listen to the officers account, he thought the unarmed boy was reaching for a weapon. He shot the young man and killed him. What if we taught our young people to respect authority? What if they had a clear and concise understanding that a police officer, has a gun, and will use it, on YOU, if he feels threatened. What if they understood that if an officer confronts them, listen to the officers commands, and do what you are told. It just might save your childs life. Or one of his friends. We are failing as parents by letting our children do whatever. They need to learn right from wrong. They disrespect teachers. Many disrespect their own parents. Respect starts at home. Teach your children to respect others. Respect their teachers. Respect Law Enforcement Officers.. Remember the Golden Rule? Disrespecting a police officer never ends well. Put yourself in the officers shoes. What if this boy was reaching for a weapon? The down side is obvious. We all need to reach out to our young people and tell them to respect authority. Respect the law enforcement officers. Do what you are told to do. Do not disrespect. Never let your children get into a position where this could happen to them. Stop the hate. Hating is not going to make anything better. Love your children. Teach them respect. God Bless.
