This is how i learnt my way through. (Extremely long but worth reading) After Brown Lesufi forced me into entering Miss GTM (and training me day and night) in 2008, the big night finaly came. I was clueless, my first ever pageant... 1. I didnt know how to apply make up. Even worse, i didnt have make up. 2. I still had my boyish personality...at the same time-extremely shy. 3. I didnt have a dress. 4. I didnt have shoes. At that point, giving up was a major option. But i kept hoping. Rhulani Mapengo borrowed me a dress, Thapedi Mphego borrowed me a pair of heels, Anette Phoku borrowed me her swim wear and i was good to go. At the end of the night, I crowned Miss Personality. The following year, i was advised to enter Miss OT. But still, i couldnt afford to...but the hope and passion burnt inside me and i just couldnt ignore it. At that time, i told myself i wasnt going to depend on anyone but find my way through...and I did. I approached Tshepo Sibindi (DJ 404) for help. He offered me a 5 nights job at DotCom, that pay R50 a night, just so i can get myself a girly pair of shoes. That means, i had classes during the day, and work during the night. That week was hard, oh i remember like it was yesterday. On my third night of work, i met Lefa Mkhabela...he asked why i worked at DotCom and I explained my story, and he said, there isnt much i can do, but to help where I can this is what Il do. For every drink i buy, ill leave you a fair tip. And i think thatll make a little difference. After the 5 nights work salary + tips i got from customers, i was able to buy myself 2 pairs of heels, basic make up items and a pair of white shorts - just what i needed :) The pageant night came and i crowned 1st princes. (my 2nt pageant in life, 2009) My 3rd pageant, in 2012 was Miss Makro Polokwane where i was crowned queen. I struggled with an outfit because the theme was, dress up and look stunning. It was stressful, but hey, i had to do something. I starved myself for a month just to buy myself a pair of boots. Thank God i paid them off a week before the pageant. My outfit was: my new black boots, a pair blue high weist pants and my mothers old top. Miraculously, the combination worked. Looking back after that win, my confidence went from 0 to 50 in 6 seconds. I started believing in myself more. Then I tried Miss Limpopo in 2013 and crowned queen + Miss Congeniality. Then Miss Mamelodi Sundowns (top17) and Miss South Africa (top33) The moral of the story is: Never stop believing in the power of your dreams. God never gets you on the road without proper necessities for your journey. Keep pushing, keep praying. Try, fall, rise and try again. When you believe against all odds, those around you will help you get there too. Never give up. Thank you to my folks, for doing the best they could to support me. Smiley Malapane, for always doing my hair even when she wasnt being paid, for helping me out with my studies and offering me a place to sleep when i needed it sometimes. Mme Marule and Mma Thobakgale, i felt like part of these womens families at all times. Nursed and welcomed and well fed. Shane Selepe...undescribable love :) Ofentse Phiri, always been my number 1 to this day. And then there was Genevah Marape, cream de lacream, awesome friend...with Mashoto Chego and Phomelelo Thobejanes support. My list is endless... And up to now, i keep on believing !
