The meeting was preceded by drama after committee member Kudzanai Chipanga (ZANU-PF MP, Makoni West) asked committee chairperson Justice Mayor Wadyajena ( ZANU-PF MP, Gokwe Nembudziya) to recuse himself citing conflict of interest. Chipanga alleged that Wadyajena, who owns a fuel logistics firm, has interests in petroleum retailer Sakunda. Wadyajena refused to stand down and proceeded to chair the hearing.
