This is humorous! Get your house in order, the Chinese say, and extend the debt ceiling. How is that getting our house in order? WE can do that by curtailing further investment abroad, and redirecting that to secure investments in the US, in new tech startups. Actually that is how China will benefit from its investments in the US. To do this, we just need a small writedown of the debt, reorganization of the banks back to a stable form- replacing Glass-Steagle. WE could also unwind the internested loaning between the US and China, that unnecessarily increases interests payments. in this way we can resume interest payments to the banks.
