This is just something I would like to share from my weekend. We as in my husband, myself, and my cousins Vencent Gilbert and Ronita Gilbert road on the ferry in Savannah, Georgia and I did not pay any attention that the Susie King Taylor Ferry Boat was named after a lady named Susie King Taylor who was a slave that lived in Savannah. She gained her freedom from slavery at the age of 14. She gained her freedom by serving as a nurse to African American Soldiers. She also taught the solider a to read and write. After one of the wars she opened a school in Savannah for African American Children!! So I learned something new today and had the privilege of riding a ferry that is apart of history!!
