This is meant to acknowledge ,and support the challenging work Brenda, and Maurice ,and all shelters struggle with daily .I have nothing but love and respect for you both. From day one, Brenda and Maurice have shared the joys, the frustration, the heartbreak, the expense and the conviction it takes to run a successful shelter. I fear that Brenda, with her uplifting personality, even when times are dire, can somehow make this vocation that she and Maurice have chosen seem cool and appealing to some.... I hope that those who are considering starting a shelter /rescue /sanctuary realize that this can be a daunting venture, requiring cash flow, a stable environment which includes a permanent residence, and volunteers or a partner. If you feel you have a calling for this type of life, do your homework, get a mentor, and take your time establishing strategies, and key players. Even if you have a following on FB, the ferret community will be there to like, comment, and support you from afar. But at the end if the day “YOU “ are responsible for your charges, no one else, and they, your charges, and are counting on you 24/7/365.
