This is my letter I have sent..... Dear whom it may concern, I have lived on the Mornington Peninsula for over 20 years and am writing to you regarding the lack of a fully equipped Aquatic centre in our area. My business brings me into contact with numerous Peninsula residents, I am yet to come across anyone that is anti Aquatic Centre on the Rosebud foreshore. Land will not cost any dollars to purchase and our out-dated run down pathetic looking memorial hall can easily be incorporated into the Aquatic centre, as can our Heritage listed sound shell (graffitied homeless urinal) Rosebud desperately needs something not only to attract tourist but more importantly to give our younger residents something to do other than hang around the streets! We no longer have a Bowling alley, a roller-skating centre or anything else to entertain our children. Even the Fauna Park at Ace High Ranch has gone! Learning to swim is a crucial part of living buy the sea and unfortunately the one small swimming pool Rosebud has is totally inadequate for the growing population. The toing and froing of councillors regarding the Aquatic Centre over the last 13 years would be laughable if it wasnt such a serious matter. Rosebud was once known as a retirement town, however the majority of residents now are younger families, you only need to look at the growth in Primary School numbers and the fact that every Primary School in the area has been renewed and expanded to cater for this. Now its time for the council to move with the times and stop bickering over what is so desperately needed.
