This is my pony of two months Melody.Shes swimming with her previous owner of 5 years sweet Morgan C. of Conn. I wanted my own equine to continue my horse dream with and I really liked the idea of a pony. I loved Jenna W.s Merlin( a British Fells pony) and when I spotted Melody a Morab pony(Morgan/Arabian) on the internet I knew I had to make the trek to see her. My previous instructor and I loved her pizazz and the fact that she was trained both naturally and in an English mode. She is 17yrs. young. A perfect age for a beginning rider. We liked that she had been previously used as a lesson horse. She also was a rodeo pony,a barrel pony they call it.Shes the perfect size for me and Morgan had outgrown her. Needless to say, I just lost 1/2 an inch this year so size wont be an issue. She was slow and gentle with me and had an actual friendly gaze with her big brown eyes. I felt that she and I just fit together. Several days later I brought her home. It felt rather like bringing my daughter home 46 years ago! Ok, I have this now what the heck do I do with it? We needed to bond, so I began sitting in a lawn chair in her corral for several days. I groomed her, talked to her and began to fall in love with her. Her brown eyes had seen so much I felt.Just like mine had.I still love my lessons but I love more when she runs up the hill when I call her.I love more that she has entirely changed my life. This 13.3 hand pony has turned my Circadian rhythm around. Her face, her body, her sweetness and her smell wake me very early in the am. This is not the old Cindy. I cant wait to see her each day. Were bonding and its all good.(except when she is naughty!) Shes helping me be a proper Cowgirl and Im giving her a great life. Oh, by the by: Barrel ponies are racers! Who knew? She may have been used as a teaching pony but as my instructor asked, For what level of student?
