This is one of my favorite lessons in the Bible. And a person need - TopicsExpress

This is one of my favorite lessons in the Bible. And a person need not be a staunch Christian to read it, understand its sentiment and put it into practice. In my experience and in my life, Ive seen the problems and pain that the tongue can cause. And, more often than Id like to admit, I have been guilty of setting forests on fire rather than choosing silence and carefulness and, thus, peace. If we all thought a little harder before we spoke, if we put more cognitive effort into what came out of our mouths before we spoke, and if we realized that the tongue can truly produce life-sustaining sustenance -- or daggers, our world would be a better place. Lets all consider our words so that we can avoid igniting forests and focus, instead, on touching hearts and living as were intended to live. Heres some serious biblical truth: Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
