((This is really, really shitty, okay. I could have done so much better //sob But here you go.)) The Hug Stalker I tugged my collar up lightly with a soft sigh as the wind picked up, blowing leaves across the nearly empty street. I switched my gaze from the gas station next to me, to the apartment building down the street where I lived. ‘It’s only a street away, I’ll be fine,’ I mumbled reassuringly to myself, more for my own comfort than anything, seeing as I can be a bit of a wuss at times. I sighed and walked into the gas station, quickly grabbing a soda and some silly little toy for my little sister, ignoring the slight chill that suddenly ran down my spine. I turned toward the register and froze in place. There was nobody there. I could swear there was a man standing behind the register just a moment before… I sighed and looked around once more. “Hello? Is anybody here?” I hollered a few times for good measure, then sighed and dropped a ten dollar bill on the counter before turning to head back out the door. “H-Hug?” I froze in place at the scratchy, stuttering male voice, the chill from before returning at full blast. I turned around quietly and swallowed hard. “Wh-What…?” A tall figure, a male, I presumed, stood in front of me, his arms outstretched, a dark brown trench-coat, red scarf, and hat keeping most of his features hidden from view. “H-Hug,” He stated, rather than questioned like he did the first time. I stared at him for a long moment, opening and closing my mouth while searching for a proper response. “U-Um… no, thank you…” There was a long, awkward silence, and the air around us shifted. The man remained silent, arms still outstretched. I sighed awkwardly and turned around, then headed out the door without saying anything else to the stranger. I wrapped my jacket tightly around me while walking back to my apartment, shaken from the strange encounter at the gas station. I kept looking around me as if someone would jump out and attack me at any moment like in the movies. I could have sworn I kept seeing that strange man out of the corner of my eye, but whenever I’d look over, there’d be no one there. I clenched my jaw tightly and ran the rest of the way to my building, letting myself in without looking back. I chucked my jacket into the closet and dropped the bag onto the counter, plopping onto the old sofa with an exasperated sigh. “There’s no way he’s following me… he’s probably just some old beggar,” I mutter to myself, leaning back. I lazily looked around the near-empty apartment and locked my gaze onto the window, my eyes going wide. Right outside the window, standing on the fire escape, was the strange man. A scream nearly tore itself from my throat, but no noise came out. I felt like I was in a silent movie. There was no noise, but the horror was there, clear as day. Time seemed to skip, and suddenly the man was in front of me, holding his arms out just like at the gas station. “H-Hug?” The way he spoke made it seem like English wasn’t his first language or maybe he just couldn’t speak very well. Either way, the question still hung in the air, waiting to be answered. “N-No…” I wanted to stand up, to run away from the man, I felt like I was frozen in place, unable to move from the spot where I sat. A long, seemingly endless silence ensued… Then I felt a sharp pain, and a warm substance run down my chest. I choked out a gasp and reached up, only to grab the handle of a blade and a clothed hand. I whimpered and looked up just as everything began going dark. The very last thing I heard was a scratchy, deep voice whispering, “Hug…?” ~Masky (Side note: My friend agreed to draw this guy for me... also, his nickname is Huggie xD)
