This is something I have never seen before. Bless the internet for the ability to excavate history and bring these things to life. It looks like prior to his departure from Batman Forever, Michael Keaton stayed in the role of Batman long enough for sculptor and costume fabricator Jose’ Fernandez to actually create prototypes of what Michaels Batsuits wouldve been. Notice the likeness of the mannequin and its resemblance to Keaton. Also in the first photo, notice the design of the utility belt, which is quite different from what Val Kilmer would eventually wear in the final film. Jose’ stayed with the production and eventually created the suits for Val Kilmer and Chris ODonnell in Batman Forever as well as the suits for Batman & Robin all based on Bob Ringwood designs, so clearly there are similarities here with both the Panther suit and especially the Sonar suit in the second photo. But yeah. For a fleeting second we almost got a third film with Michael Keaton...and these just bring that idea out of history and one step closer to light. Huge thanks to Andy Garza for sharing!
