This is the abstraction of Salil Sahnis political thoughts, as - TopicsExpress

This is the abstraction of Salil Sahnis political thoughts, as given by Phub Dorji, a political observer and commentator who has published works in Bhutan. Upon reviewing Salils agendas and manifestos, it becomes a clear that his political thoughts should be seen as liberal, progressive and populistic with a touch of Socialism. Hindu college has an esteem reputation of being a secular school that encourages its students to explore and understand new culture and religion. To this effect, Salil is an embodiment of what this institution stands for. His agendas seem to always find a way to be tolerant and accepting of every kind of person at Hindu without any sort of negative discrimination. In fact, his methods are so scientific and almost surgical, that, the best single word to describe his ultimate aim would be Equity. Equity is different from equality, in that Equity is more scientific and mindful and addresses the issues of every group by treating them with positive discrimination. To truly see this difference, a Equality group will consider every student equal and logically leave them to themselves, but an examination of Salils agendas show that he has plans for every group- self protection, etc seminars for women, Ankur society for the visually impaired, are some examples. This is an Equity government based on prescriptive, scientific methods. These points are the founding ideas of any liberal and progressive governing body. However, his government can also be described as a bit populistic, as he addresses issues that are hotly on the minds of the electoral. Ideally, this is the best form of government, however it can be tricky. But an analysis of every bit of his manifesto seems to suggest that he has an idea of what he is going to do for Hindu College. For example, the agenda about making Wi-Fi better and free-r maybe seen by most people as just kissing the public ass. However, his main motive behind allocating individual departmental domains seems to stem from his belief that every subject can be studied best in different methods. What works for one, might not necessarily for the another. And so, the onus of learning is placed in the hands of the HODs- people who know their department, students and subjects best. This kind of precision is consistent over all his agendas. I have a good feeling about this characteristic of his government-if-elected. Compare this to most other agendas, not only from his counterparts, but also national governments, and you find that such precision is lacking. This is the reason why most countries free fall as soon as the government takes power. I can see no way possible for such a fate to come to Hindu if he is elected. I tag him as A bit socialistic because of his belief to be inclusive of every Hinduites. His motto stems from the popular socialistic saying To each by his needs. From each by his abilities- these words seem to sum up very well what he plans to do if elected. And as far as I can see, his agendas are top class!
