This is the email I wrote, I will be providing a different, stock email for all to use and alter as they wish: Dear Peter Gutwein, I write in absolute disgust, having today read of your reversal of the decision by the previous Labor/Green government to require that government agencies source only free-range hens eggs, describing it as an unnecessary level of red tape that threatened local jobs and as another case of Labor pandering to the Greens. On your first point, that this decision thretatened local jobs, in fact it is your decision to reverse this requirement that has placed local jobs at threat. Given the move to ban battery farming of hens and eggs in Tasmania (no doubt the next Labor/Green decision in your sights), government agencies seeking the cheapest alternatives will be forced to source their eggs from cheaper interstate battery farming companies. Local producers will be effectively cut out of the market, jeopardising their livilihoods. As to the decision being merely a case of Labor pandering to the Greens, how utterly insulting, and how dare you. This was a case of thousands of Tasmanians expressing their utter revulsion to the battery farming industries, having seen the vile and cruel conditions in which these animals are forced to exist. This was a case of Labor and the Greens actually listening to the people they represented and making small but vital steps in the fight against factory farming cruelty. For you to so sneeringly dismiss this critical move as just pandering shows that you have no concept of what Tasmanians, the very people you now claim to represent, want for food producing animals. It is very apparent that you, and the Tasmanian Liberal party, have no interest in actually representing Tasmanians. I have attached images from battery farms, to show to you the squalor and the filth these animals exist in. And I will continue to send you images and updated research on battery farmed animals, and will encourage my friends to do the same, until such time as you understand that this was not about politics. This was never about politics. This was always about the animals. Shame on you. Kristy Alger
