This is the first definition of Common Core Math that actually makes sense: The standards for elementary math emphasize that kids should not only be able to solve arithmetic problems using the tried-and-true methods their parents learned, but understand how numbers relate to each other. But seriously people...lets just teach our kids how to do MATH. Numbers are numbers. Why do we need to know how they relate to each other? And lets face it...every math teacher I had from like 5th grade on lied. I have NOT used all the math Ive learned. pythagorean theorem...um yea not since the day I left the last math class I had to use it. If kids want to continue on to higher math, then fine. I get that there are jobs out there that need a higher level of math...but let the people that are going into that career, take that math.
