This is the first time I have commented on the current KMBC Tesco debacle. One of the reasons for this being the same inane rhetoric and diatribe about the residents of Kirkby stopping Destination Kirkby this now comes under the category of urban myth For pity sake use a search engine and read the facts. Our elected members are totally incompetent and if in the business world they were a board of directors there would be a majority vote of no confidence in them. They will no doubt lay the blame on Tesco. However, it was KMBC that gave Tesco exclusivity. Councillor Round and our elected MP George Howarth would have us believe they informed us of the Tesco decision on they very day they were told...Do they really think we came down in the last shower. If a business is in trouble plans are afoot weeks, months even years before most working to a five year business plan. KMBC would have most likely been informed prior to the release of their senior executive. When asked did this warrant a public enquiry. Mr. Howarth said that could go on for years and that other companies would be reluctant to move in to Kirkby while that was ongoing The fact of the matter is we are in this mess and what do we do about it? There are 72 homes that could be sold for a £1 each on the proviso that mortgages can be obtained. This worked in Liverpool Most importantly you have the power to vote.. When you are canvassed for your vote in the local elections come May let us not forget When I said to George Howarth this council have demolished and vandalised Kirkby he neither agreed or disagreed with me.
