"This is the first time the G8 have met on the island of Ireland. Wherever, they go they face protests from workers, trade unions, youth organisations, the anti globalisation movement and all those who oppose a global elite determining global policies behind closed doors without democratic scrutiny. The Irish Congress of Trade Unions Northern Ireland and NGOs have organised the Big March for a Fairer World in Belfast on Saturday 15th June. Its aim is to send a noisy and colourful message to the G8 that we want social, economic and environmental justice to be central to political decision-making."
