This is the first time the Russians have actually bombarded inside the city itself and it wasnt just a few rounds either. There is a lot of noise from so called rebel leaders in Ukraine and local Russian leaders in Crimea calling it the beginning of liberating Mariupol. But, so far no troops have entered the city. Though it could be the Russians did this to motivate civilians to leave town. Not to be humanitarian, but to avoid footage of civilians caught in the crossfire of infantry fire fights, and to simply reduce the confusion on the battlefield so, they dont waste bullets on unarmed targets.
