This is the great Saddlebred mare, Katherine Grigsby, foaled in 1910. Photographed by George Ford Morris, this image clearly shows her elegance, air and show horse style. She was by Montomery Chief, the great full brother to Bourbon King. Her dam was Lena Jemison, who also produced the superb American Born. Katherine Grigsby produced Great Chance (a beautiful and succesful stallion), Longview Lady (the dam of the fine stallion Truman Dare), Jean Coventry (the dam of Lady Coventry who produced one of the greatest and showiest fine harness horses I ever saw, Kourageous Kalu), Majors Katrina (dam of the great, ratings topping sire, Chief Beauchamp) and Lady Jane (Worlds Grand Champion Five Gaited Horse in 1939). This is another example of how great breeding, ability and beauty continues to remain -- from one generation to the next. :)
