This is the most exciting thing, to me, to be announced at Disneys Hollywood Studios in a long time. More-so than even the hat removal, though the two could be potentially linked. The Great Movie Ride is getting love and the greatest partnership for that attraction one could ever imagine. It will become The Great Movie Ride presented by Turner Classic Movies. The attraction will be revitalized with TCMs assistance (read multitude of classic film licences) and the TCM logo will be on the new marquee, poster, banners, and any other displays. In return TCM will be receiving television rights to classic Disney animated shorts, films, and television shows and specials, including classic episodes and specials of Disneyland and Walt Disneys Wonderful World of Color, which is also fantastic. The Disney block will run 4-5 times a year, the first block being December 21st. The first changes to The Great Movie Ride will be introduced Q1 of 2015, with a revitalization of the pre and post show videos and a new video staring Robert Osborne who will quote himself as being from Turner Classic Movies.”. I really hope that these are just the beginning. Whats amazing is that with the partnership being with Turner, all of the classic films in the attraction can stay, including The Wizard of Oz. With Turner Classic Movies assistance (both brand authority as quoted in the article along with potential financial assistance), there can be some new life into The Great Movie Ride and really showcase classic cinema in the best possible way for an icon attraction for Disneys Hollywood Studios. I also really do think, alluded above, this partnership is a reason why the Sorcerers Hat is going away. I really wish that this is the start of something huge for The Great Movie Ride. At a minimum, the new poster (shown in the article), made me literally giggle with joy, so thats a start. Bravo to Disney Corporate Alliances for this one. You did good. Now, lets start rolling.
