This is tragic, and extremely sad! It seems we can become desensitised when there is enough uncertainty and fear around to distract us...and there are certainly people (in particular, corporations -who have more rights than people in this day and age) who seek to take advantage of this, and exploit the vulnerable at any opportunity. Whether its the carbon tax, GP co-payment (in addition to Medicare levy most of us already pay), cuts to education, invasions of our privacy (all of the anti-terror laws, including data retention scheme all seek to compromise any privacy you thought you had left), cuts to pensions, social welfare, it all has the capacity to enrage the average, decent citizen. Whilst this is going on on our own shores, the same big banks have been stealing poor peoples land in other parts of the third world...(see Oxfams website for yourself). fortunately some governments have challenged this, and the corporations involved have had to turn back, but what to do about this in our own country...surely theres something! Maybe protests, civil disobedience Ferguson style, or perhaps pull our money out of these institutions until they sit up and listen, and rectify their behaviour. Theyre not going to just start being decent because we ask them nicely...sigh*
