This is true not only for sports, but in all aspects of life. You must learn to take responsibility and handle making mistakes. Reality that a kid is average or below average is ok, if its used to motivate them. Telling an above average performing kid they are equal in performance to a less average kid is confusing and gives the feeling hard work does not pay off... My funny story, my grade school gave out honorable mention ribbons to kids that finished subpar in sporting events or activities. I went to high school believing the word honorable was a bad thing but Im happy my Freshman English teacher straightened this out for me... #noteverykiddeservesatrophey
