This is unusual in some ways. This wolf would match the largest wolf killed, one in Alaska at that size, but a male. That is was female and that large makes it even stranger. Male wolves usually range 80-105 lbs. and females smaller. So, are we talking about a wolf-dog hybrid. It is also unusual for a wolf to kill that many sheep. That is a coyote trait or group of coyotes to kill a flock. Eagles kill more sheep than wolves. It was in the Big Horn Mountains of WY, also unusual. In the Big Horns so the sheep rancher was probably on public land leasing for $1.35 per animal unit per month and five sheep count as an animal unit. Anytime there is a predator killing of livestock it should be brought out if it was on public land. This story smells a bit.
